In My Arms

You fall asleep upon my chest;
Making my knee your little nest.

I feel you breathe and your beating heart;
Don’t want this to end and us to part.

Your body relaxed and face so calm;
As I cradle you within my arms.

I take a moment to soak up the sight;
Of the boy for which we had to fight.

So beautifully formed and skin so fair;
My head on yours, sniffing your hair.

My arm now tired and body starts to ache;
But I’ll hold you for as long as it takes.

Because these moments won’t last for forever;
Although our bond will never sever.

When you’ve grown and left the family fold;
My arms will be here, and ready to hold.
